32 Before 32

I like making goals lists. Oh yes I do. This my third of year of publishing my yearly goal list on Rosalilium. Having a birthday three days into the year makes it rather neat for making goal lists for each birthday/age milestone. Last week I shared an update of how well I fared at meeting my goals on my 31 before 31 list – I did around half-ish… But this year I am determined to hit a much higher proportion of the goals, if not 100%! Oh yeah … I’m feeling ambitious.

As usual I pulled out my notepad and picked one of my favourite Staedtler fine liner pens and brainstormed a list of goals I’d like to achieve before my 32nd birthday. The list includes personal development things like learning to crochet a granny square and making bread. It also features adventurous ideas such as visiting Scotland and going on a spontaneous road trip. And, of course, there ares some career goals too such as organising a successful Blognix conference and writing another e-course.

Black and White

This year my 32 before 32 list is as follows:

  1. pass driving test
  2. go to the ballet
  3. pay off credit card (and overdrafts)
  4. take boyf to a musical
  5. visit to scotland
  6. learn yoga
  7. get fit, feel strong, strengthen core muscles and get back into my old dresses
  8. visit to thailand again
  9. take a spontaneous road trip
  10. have tea at the Ritz, Savoy or Dorchester
  11. host a successful Blognix conference
  12. write another e-course
  13. redesign rosalilium
  14. ride a tandem bicycle with the boyf
  15. buy polaroid film and try out my polaroid cameras
  16. save up for a new DSLR camera
  17. write a new recipe eBook
  18. make a photo gallery
  19. learn to crochet a granny square
  20. learn to make bread
  21. take an art/craft day class
  22. buy a record player and listen to my record collection
  23. play a 90s music DJ set (and learn to DJ)
  24. host a cocktail party

32 Before 32 List

What do you reckon? Are these all do-able in just one year?

I only have 51 weeks to go!

I’m on 32 Before 32 too (my list is here: . I love the mix of life, career and fun goals on your list, most of mine are just fun things that I’ve either always wanted to do or I fancy trying! I’ve tried to include some blogging goals this time though, and as stick our lists have one crossover – Youtube videos! I’ve never made a video for my blog before, it’s so intimidating, but I thought putting it on my list would help motivate me.

Good luck with all your goals – looking forward to seeing how you get on with them all!

Ohhhhh another Blognix Conference!!! That sounds rather exciting! I loved attending last years so will be on the look out on any updates about that.

Your list is great Elizabeth! It looks like you have big plans for 2014. Good luck with them all 🙂

Totally do-able! I’d love to Yurt it up one day as an alternative to camping and to make bread at the weekends. Lovely goals and I can’t wait to see you achieve them! P.S Owning a record player is the best thing.

Lists are always a great way to write down what you are feeling and need to do. Good luck… I would need a 36 before 36 now!

What a great list. I did a 35 things to do in my 35th year a while ago (I’ll be 38 this year, gulp!) and managed to do about 32 of them. I’ve got very few goals this year, but some of them are quite massive, so I’ll have to see how they go. Maybe, I should 40 things before I’m 40 – but start now, so I’ve got some chance of finishing it!

On so many of the things you’ve written (from a craft class to bread making) I kept thinking that Leeds has great opportunities for doing the things you’re looking for, if you ever fancy a trip up North!

I’ll be following with interest to see how you get on, and in the meantime be thinking of what I might add to a 40 by 40 list!

Hi Elizabeth! I like your goals lists, it is a good way to keep motivated to actually accomplish them. I am 23 but I always take some of the items of your lists for my own. I really enjoy reading your blog and I think you can do them all 🙂

Good luck on your list, I’m sure you’ll do great getting through them. If you ever have trouble with the crochet let me know. I am no expert and it confuses me greatly (yet I can knit, go figure) but I can knock out a mean granny square no probs lol.

I totally failed at last years list so I’ve abandoned the list and I’m going for a monthly goal now (and finding 33 things to do before the year started seemed pretty daunting).
I do love your list. It’s a great mix of fun and practical. x

I love this list (and stay with us!) I have a small list of things to do before April. Slightly ambitious but I want to push myself to get out more and do things. Not confident enough to post it online though. I will maybe in Easter to show how I got on though. 🙂

  12. 21 January 2014 / 2:22 pm

    MORE BLOGNIX! I can’t wait.

  13. 23 January 2014 / 2:11 pm

What a great list! I really want to do 14 too. A couple at my work cycle in on a tandem together each day, it’s really sweet.

I have a Polaroid camera and have found it difficult to get film as it’s mostly discontinued. However, you can find some film here https://www.the-impossible-project.com/

And good luck with crocheting a granny square. Be warned, it is totally addictive!

    Have a super year. x
