Birmingham: Asha’s Restaurant

We went to Asha’s Restaurant on a date night a few months ago and I totally forget to tell you all about it. Asha’s is co-owned by the famous Indian star, Asha Bhosle (love her voice!) and serves up high-end Indian food that is classy, tasty and very moreish. This is good quality Indian food right here.

Mango and Chilli Cocktail

Asha’s restaurant has a trendy decor with smart lines, sumptuous colours and an inviting bar area. The lights are kept relatively dim (apologies for the grainy photos) and the restaurant has a nice gentle buzzy atmosphere. We found ourselves on a sweet little table in the corner where we could make ourselves cosy.

We ordered two cocktails from their very extensive drinks menu. In fact, we spent a good ten minutes or so reading through the menu and trying to decide. If you like cocktails, you’ll love it here. We went for a spicy chai cocktail and a sweet mango one (sorry, I’ve forgotten their names). There were incredibly boozy, you’ve been warned!

Chicken Tikka Masala

For our mains, we ordered a Lamb Keema and a Chicken Tikka Masala. The first tasted like it had been slow-cooked for hours. The flavours had a deep intensity and the meat was melt-in-the-mouth tender. It was delicious.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was our comparative dish, we often order it when we get an Indian to compare with other restaurants. I personally found it a bit too sweet, but then, I think I am going to tikka masala a bit. However, the boyf loved it!

Lamb Keema

It was a bit of a special date-night dinner. I think it was to celebrate the boyf’s new snazzy job in London. It was a great romantic location. The food and cocktails were tasty, the staff were really friendly and I would totally go back again for a bar session too.

Brindleyplace Fountains

I do love the fountains lit up at night in Brindleyplace. This was on our walk home. Ahhh…. romance is a walk home after a delicious meal.
