Birmingham with my Sister

My little sister made a last-minute request to come stay with me the week before last. She’s 13 years old now and I think she was pretty keen to have a bit of girly time with her big sister. So my Daddio drove her up to Birmingham on the Saturday, took us out for a delicious breakfast at Carluccio’s and then left us to our girly shenanigans.

We took a walk through town to the Bullring, passing the amazing new library on the way (have I mentioned how excited I am about this place? Oh yes, yes I have).

After browsing the very expensive shoes and handbags on the top floor of Selfridges I introduced my lil sis to the delights of the Food Hall. Also on the ground floor are the concessions for Paperchase and Cath Kidston – she was in her element! After photographing everything for her future Christmas list I treated her to a mini cupcake and we went for a wander around the rest of the Bullring.

Thai street food in Birmingham

Outside the Bullring there was a youth steel band playing. They were brilliant. So we enjoyed their show for a bit before discovering that Chaophraya, the Thai restaurant outside the Bullring, does a mini streetfood stall. Amazing! Just like in Thailand. So we picked up a couple of chicken satays. Yum!

Thai Starters

The following day the boyf took us out for lunch and it was all about the Thai food again, wahoo! We tried out Tiger Bills, a fusion of a bbq and thai food next to our local cinema. It was rather tasty actually and we were able to get a discount with our Cineworld cards. Of course, after all that food it was only right that we worked it off with a trip to the cinema. We saw the new Wolverine movie if you’re interested. Hello, Hugh Jackman!

On the following couple of days we had a relatively chilled out time wandering around Birmingham, reading books, watching movies and cooking together – and of course, our visit to Hereford to see our brother. It was really quite lovely. Yey for sister-time!
