Last night I was minding my own business, having a browse through my twitter feed when I stumbled upon a tweet saying “I like Kate Nash 80% more now” with a link attached. Curious, I thought. Why would some like Kate Nash 80% more? Why 80%? What is Kate Nash doing to make people like her more? So I duly clicked through. I clicked through to amazingness. Yep. On Halloween this year Kate Nash and some friends performed a gig filled entirely with the songs from Once More With Feeling, the musical episode from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was brilliant. Well, the performance themselves were ok, but it was brilliant to be reminded of one of my all time loves, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It is probably one of the best television shows ever made and I am a not so secret fan. Oh yes. I love Buffy and I am not afraid to say it!
So, I spent a little while last night, watching Kate Nash sing the Buffy soundtrack and I mindlessly tweeted about how much I loved Buffy and in a moment’s craziness mused that it might be a cool theme for a birthday. Then I tweeted that maybe it would be a crazy, silly theme for MY birthday. Afterall, the big 3-0 is coming up.
The response on Twitter has been most surprising. Seriously, I have not encountered so much enthusiasm on Twitter as I did last night and this morning for my potential Buffy themed birthday party. Ha! Can you imagine it? Nuts. But it would seem, amongst my Twitter followers at least, that there are quite a few Buffy fans out there.
I can’t believe I am seriously considering a Buffy themed party for my 30th. I must be insane.
The lovely twitter folk have suggested all manner of ideas. Maybe it’s a fancy dress? Or maybe it’s just a gathering, much like at The Bronze and we arrange for a group of vampires to crash the party? Or maybe I just make some biscuits shaped like wooden stakes, gravestones and crosses.
I don’t know. Am I crazy?
So, the boyf dropped the bombshell this morning that he has never watch Buffy. Oh. my. word. How did I not know this already? I have immediately set about digging out my boxsets out and we will start watching ALL of the Buffy, which is about 144 episodes. Yey! Buffy-fest. I WILL convert him to the Buffy-verse.
Ok, I have finally come clean about my total geekiness for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, do I actually tie in a Buffy theme to my birthday or is that just a crazy step too far?
