Alterna Caviar CC Cream – Haircare Review

I am on long journey trying to find the holy grails of hair products. It is long, exhausting, and fraught with bad choices. As a lady with long hair and one who feels rather attached to said long hair, I am desperate to make sure it is as lovely, shiny and healthy as can be. Not always an easy task!

I have a huge list of products that DON’T work. But I’ll save that post for another day.

Today I want to share my current favourite haircare product. It’s a multi-purpose leave-in conditioner product that is slightly higher on the price point than high street products, but given how effective it is, I’d say you’re getting great value.

CC Cream for Hair

The product is the Alterna Caviar CC Cream. Billed as a 10 in 1 complete correction leave-in hair perfector (their words!) it is useful in so many ways. They list the 10 benefits of the cream as: moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, UV protection, manageability, strength, anti-breakage, heat protection and light hold.

For me this hair product has been a hair saver. I received the Caviar CC Cream in a free subscription box from LookFantastic after attending an event. I’ve not really tried out subscription boxes before and didn’t really understand the point. Boy was I missing out. This one box included so many high quality samples to try out that I learned more about the different types of beauty products out there in one month than in the previous 5 years. No exaggeration at all. It totally re-inspired me to get into beauty products and must say the technology has come so far since my earliest forays into beauty back in my teens.

This sample of the Caviar CC cream was pretty generous given the price point of the product and that only a small amount is needed each time you use it. Plus, I only wash my hair two or three times a week so my hair products last a decent length of time.

Alterna CC Cream Leave In Conditioner

The first time I used the product I was immediately struck by how soft my hair felt after blow drying. I had bleached ends from a balayage with the hairdressers so my hair was super brittle and unhappy. However, this product managed to soften that haystack with no problems at all.

Over a few months I used the hair product on a weekly basis until it run out. I was faced with buying a new one but at £25 I wasn’t sure if I could justify the investment. Yet, within a week I noticed a difference in the texture of my hair. No matter what other products I was using I just couldn’t get my hair as soft. That’s a sign of a good product, when you notice the difference when it’s gone.

Caviar CC Cream Alterna

I purchased a full size version of the Caviar CC cream and I am still as happy as before. The packaging is pretty plain but it does have a useful pump action which I like and prevents product wastage. I smooth a few pumps through the mid-length to ends of my hair with a gentle wipe over the top at the end.

I’ll smooth another pump over the ends for further moisture and smooth the flyways after blow drying if it’s particularly humid (hello weirdly wet and humid June 2016!).

The Alterna Caviar CC Cream is a dream product for my hair at the moment, I’m so pleased to find something that genuinely injects softness into my long, straggly hair.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream retails at £24.95, currently on LookFantastic for £19.96.
