My Short Skirt: A Celebration for International Women’s Day

For the first time on this blog I have made a little video of myself, it is pretty nerve-wracking to post this but I am a huge advocate of women’s rights and as it is International Women’s Day it seemed apt.
A few years ago I directed, produced and starred in The Vagina Monologues as part of a Women’s Awareness week that I organised. Here I am reading one of the monologues from the play which is a poem about My Short Skirt. As a feminist that enjoys fashion, style and wearing whatever makes me feel good, this piece really speaks to me.
So it gives me great pleasure to wish you a very happy International Women’s Day. Please take the time to appreciate all the amazing women in your life and spare a thought for our sisters around the world who are struggling for their rights.

  1. You gave me chills! I've done two performances of The Vagina Monologues in college…loved the experience and spreading the (very very important) message.

    Happy International Woman's Day, Elizabeth!

  2. That is such a brilliant monologue!

    Hooray for fashion and Feminism!

    {I'm ashamed to say I've never seen The Vagina Monologues!}

    Thanks for sharing…x

  3. Great monologue. Last time I saw The Vagina Monologues was a uni production…took me back. Thanks for sharing, great reading : )
