Night of Guilty Pleasures

There is always a need (desire) to throw caution to the wind and indulge in the guiltiest of pleasures. Oh yes. It’s all well and good pursuing a healthy lifestyle and practising lots of self-care. But for optimum mental health I definitely recommend indulging your heart’s guiltiest pleasures.

Night of Guilty Pleasures

This is what my night of guilty pleasures looks like:

Chinese Takeaway

Nothing is more guilt-ridden and decadent than ordering-in dinner, particularly of the Chinese variety. The more fried and questionable, the better. My favourite order consists of Chicken Satay Skewers, Salt and Pepper Ribs, Grilled Dumplings, Egg Fried Rice and loads of Prawn Crackers. Yum!

Netflix Series

Something so indulgent in bingeing on a huge Netflix marathon. Our favourites in the past year have included Battlestar Galactica, Avatar: the Last Airbender, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Lie to Me.

I love wearing the softest, baggiest and comfiest pyjamas I can find. I often opt for men’s pyjamas as they just feel roomier. And you know, I am rather ample in the rear department… I need space for maximum bum comfort.

Squishy cushions

Picture this, you’re snuggled up on the sofa, or even in bed, you’ve gorged on filthy takeaway and you’re decked out in the best jim-jams ever … now all you need is a selection of big squishy cushions to cuddle, lean on and generally sink into.

Scented candles

Now dinner is over and we are well and truly absorbed into our Netflix marathon we might want to amp up some decadence by lighting our favourite scented candles. Who doesn’t love a good whiff in the room?

White wine

If it’s not a school night I will probably treat myself to a bottle of my favourite Chardonnay. The boyf tends to prefer a Pinot Noir or Merlot.

Haagan Dazs ice cream

And finally, the cherry on top, or in my case totally-amazingly-decadent chocolatey-ness on top … I need a tub of my all time favourite ice cream – Haagan Daazs Belgian Chocolate. It tastes like actual heaven. I’m sure of it.

So that’s my night of guilty pleasures. It’s certainly not one that positively contributes to my internal health, but it sure does make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
