Outfit: Autumn Florals

Outfit – Dress: Lady Vintage, Boots: Dorothy Perkins (yonks ago), Cardigan: Monsoon (yonks ago)

Sometimes the simplest outfits are the best. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about the layers and ridiculous jewellery most of the time. But last weekend I really fancied the plain and simple. Even my hair was a simple style, just making pin curls the night before for curly craziness the next day. And that is it. My outfit is just a dress, boots, cardi and curly hair.

It has been quite a while since I last shot an outfit post. The summer just does not inspire me the same way Autumn does (I have already mentioned how much I love Autumn). Also, if I am totally honest, I have not been feeling the most confident recently, well…more self-conscious than usual. It’s weird, I think my body is starting to change at the moment and I am having minor style awareness issues to go along with it.

I guess we all go through moments when everything in our wardrobe looks like crap. Or our weight fluctuates. Or even our dimensions shift a bit. Sometimes it’s the other way round, the stress in our every day life makes it harder to feel inspired by our wardrobe.

I have not felt inspired for a while.

But I did start a temp job a few weeks ago after a little period on unemployment. It has been a tough summer so it is a little relieving to have an income, however small it might be. So I let myself have one new purchase to cheer myself up as a treat for my hard work. Because despite all the work I do, day-job and night-job (blogging etc.) I am still very hard on myself for not doing more. There are just not enough hours in the day! (If only I didn’t need sleep to function, I’d get loads more done).

So today’s post is a note to myself: be nice to yourself.

You look absolutely fabulous, Elizabeth! Great dress, that really brings out your hair colour! I would love to brave enough to go that shade, but I am too pale. Just had a look at the site via your link, super frocks indeed.

Pale is great! I’m pretty pale too, but the I think the patterns really help with this shade.

I love this dress – so gorgeous and works beautifully on you. Agree it can be hard to be nice to yourself but I suppose just being aware of it in the first place is a good step. Also agree with soooo much to do. Better get back to it 😉

Ah, this dress is beautiful and the colours look so stunning on you. And, it’s so easy to be hard on yourself, especially in the world of blogs where so many amazing people seem to be doing so many amazing things, so your honesty about it all is really refreshing. Being nice to yourself seems sometimes strangely hard to do (but a gorgeous frock always seems to help a bit).

Oh I love this – really really gorgeous outfit. You look great. Mind you, I feel how you describe most of the time since I’ve had my kids. Went from having loads of fun with clothes to not really feeling quite right very often. Hey ho.

I love that dress on you! I’m also going to try the hair tutorial – thanks for putting it up!

I was wondering about dress size advice – they’ve sold out of my size and I was wondering if you found they came up big or small? (i.e. should I go higher or lower!)

    Thank you! 🙂

I think they came up a tad small. It is tight on my chest and I’m generally on the smaller side boob wise.

      Hope that helps!
