Oh, tartan you lovely, versatile Autumn/Winter pattern. You look so lovely in that low Winter sun, casting great contrasting light across the land. A tartan skirt is pretty much a surefire staple in an Autumn/Winter wardrobe. It just feels right. And feels even better when it’s a affordable find too.
This tartan skirt was eyeing me up for weeks from the windows of the Topshop store. I swear it was. Every time I popped into town to do my Christmas shopping this skirt would start yelling at me. “Buy me, buy me! You know you want me!”
In the end, it was just too much to resist. I had to give the skirt what it wanted – a good family home with plenty of love and affection.
And so I relented. The Topshop tartan skirt came home with me, and I’ve been wearing it constantly ever since. It’s a stretchy pencil skirt, which is perfect for my fluctuating waistline at the moment. It’s super comfy and easy to wear. And it’s such a gorgeous red tartan pattern. What’s not to love?
OK, the length can be a little awkward. And I’m totally bordering on Granny Chic territory here by teaming this midi skirt length with my flats. But hello comfy outfit! This is my running-around-town-doing-errands outfit. I like it.
Let’s not mention how I have been wearing this vintage jumper almost non-stop since I bought it 7 years ago! (As seen on a very early, and silly, outfit post).
Side note: how lovely are these photographs that the boyf caught just as the sun hit the bushes? Gorgeous. I think he’s enjoying this photography malarky now.
Let’s also take a moment to appreciate the best handbag I have ever bought. It’s over a year old, picked up from River Island when I lived in Northampton. It gets so many compliments when I’m out and about which pleases me greatly because I love it too. It’s the perfect size handbag for me – nice and big! – and I love that pop of red in the lining. It was also another bargain buy – I think it was around £35 which is really great for a decent, sturdy handbag.
In other news, I’m nearing the end of The Big Blogging Bootcamp e-course and it has been brilliant! I’ve absolutely loved teaching it and I think it’s gone down really well with the participants. I definitely think I’ll give it another run soon. Possibly in March. Watch this space!
