My passion project right now is most certainly Blognix, the blogging conference I started last year and with the next event coming up next month. It’s been a crazy ride so far but I’m so passionate about blogging that pure determination to create something I can share with my fellow bloggers is what drives me every day.
Blognix started out as a reaction to other blogging events that either seemed a little clique-y or based on a certain niche, or were focused on goodie bags and freebies And then there were other events that were ideal for beginners, but as someone who’d been blogging for a few years the content just wasn’t applicable to me.
The idea behind Blognix was to create the kind of event I wanted to go to. One that was introvert-friendly. One that included bloggers from ALL genres and niches. One that combined the benefits of a conference with all the learning and new skills along with that of a social event where you get to make new friends. I wanted a blogging event that would leave me inspired and driven by the blogging community.
And so Blognix was born.
Last year saw the pilot event in Birmingham and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive that it just had to come back again this year.
In between I ran a series of Google+ Hangouts in the Autumn with some inspiring bloggers who were generous enough to share their knowledge.
And now we have Blognix 2014 on the horizon.
We’re going to have talks and workshops on topics such as freelancing, branding, blog finances, writing eBooks, working with brands, photography, podcasting, ethics and more. It’s going to be a full-on day of learning. And yet I’m still squeezing in an epic picnic-style lunch, a bake-off competition, a photo booth and finishing off the day with a social event at a brand new bar and pizzeria opposite the conference space. Phew!
There’s A LOT to be excited about.
But right now, I’m slogging it out to get it all organised. You never know how much goes into organising an event until you actually do one yourself. Blimey! I’m surround by thousands of lists 24/7. Ha!
That’s a passion project for you though. You have to be really passionate about something to work your butt off to make it happen.
I am passionate blogging. I am passionate about celebrating the positive side of blogging. And I am passionate about lifting a whole community of bloggers through learning, sharing, connecting and inspiring.
So there you have it. Blognix is my passion project.
And I hope I get to meet some of you there. It’s going to be rad!
P.S. I’d love it if you subscribed to the Blognix blog on Bloglovin. I’m sharing LOADs of blogging tips, resources, news and inspiration there.
