On Thursday evening the first West Midlands Women of the Year Awards held at the rather swanky Hotel la Tour in Birmingham. It was a bit of a dressing up affair so the girls were in the pretty dresses and the boys were looking sharp. We sipped champagne, nibbled at canapes and celebrated all the awesome women of the West Midlands.
Here we are dressed up to the nines. I’m with Lisa from Glamour in the County, Emily from Emily-Jayne and Sara from Pretty in Pink. I had stupidly forgotten my camera so we had to make do with the ol’ iphone photos. Sorry about that. We were also having such a lovely time that we didn’t take that many pictures. Too much good chat to be had when hanging out with fellow Bloggers. Yep.
The West Midlands Women of the Year awards are a regional celebration of the great things women are doing here. We were graced with the presence of some damn inspiring women. It was pretty rad.
The awards ceremony whizzed by and then … with my heart pounding like crazy … my name was called out, I won Lifestyle Blogger of the Year! Yey!
It was totally nerve-wracking.
I went up to receive my award from the organiser Justice Williams MBE and made a little speech. I dedicated my award to the boyf. And eeek! I was totally overwhelmed.
This was our happy faces after the awards. Yey, we won something!
The other winner in the blogging categories were Sara for Beauty Blogger of the Year, and Emma Iannarilli from Fashion-Mommy for Fashion Blogger of the Year. Sadly Emma wasn’t able to make it as her little one is poorly. We missed her loads!
So yeah … ’twas a good night to hang out with some of my fave bloggy folks. We may have hit up the Hotel la Tour bar afterwards for a cocktail or two … (and I can neither confirm nor deny that we ordered late night Dominoes when stumbled back to chez Emily’s).
Oh, and how swish does Emily look supping her sexy ol’ cocktail? She totally needs to be the poster girl for Hotel la Tour.
I really do need to thank you, lovely blog reader. Because it is thanks to you that I won this award. It is all you lovely folk who come back to Rosalilium every day and read with ramblings. You share your thoughts and words of encouragement. And in what has been a very difficult year for me, you have been there to cheer me on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You enable me to do something that I love, that I care so passionately about. It is an honour to have you here with me!
