My ideal Halloween is one spent in front of the TV with friends watching horror movies. Bowls of popcorn, sweets and treats and a room decorated with candles and a pumpkin or two makes for a perfect spooky evening. Just try not to jump every time trick-or-treaters knock on your door! With a few days to go until the night in question, you have plenty of time to stock up on your favourite films but here’s some to get you started.
I’m a fan of classic horror/thriller movies that will last an age. Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (freaks me out), Kubrick’s masterpiece The Shining and silent classic Nosferatu are all, in my humble opinion, genius. A couple of cheesy horror films have to be thrown in to the mix – Beetle Juice and The Lost Boys totally make it in my top 20 movies of all time and both are ridiculously cheesy, brilliant and iconic. Or you could add a horror film with a touch of romance? The Swedish movie, Let the Right One in, is beautiful and peculiar – a perfect Halloween treat for the romantics among us.
