Trick or Treat Week: Eyeball Martini and Bat Wings

Today Hazel from It’s Not F***ing Rocket Science is sharing her recipes for Spooky Halloween Food

Halloween is the perfect excuse to play with your food (if you need an excuse that is!) so break out the weird and wonderful glitters and food colourings and let your imagination run riot!

eyeball martini

Eyeball Martini:

Ingredients:

  • 35ml gin (or vodka if you prefer)
  • 35ml lychee juice (from the can)
  • 50ml pomegranate juice
  • sprinkle of red edible glitter
  • 1 canned lychee

Simply put all the liquid ingredients into a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice and shake for about 10 seconds before straining into a martini glass, popping in your lychee and sprinkling with glitter.

Sticky Bat Wings:

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Chicken wings
  • 1 heaped tablespoon treacle
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • pinch chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried garlic granules
  • 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
  • 1 heaped teaspoon minced ginger puree
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • black food colouring (about 2-3 capfuls)

Just mix everything together and leave to marinate (preferable overnight but at least 2 hours) then roast in an oven preheated to 200C for about 45 minutes whilst basting every 15 minutes with the juices from the bottom of the roasting tin.
