We love picnics. The boyf and I are known for our love of picnics. We have birthday picnics and we even have picnics in a car if necessary. Picnics are rad. There is the picky food, the casual eating, not to mention the juice with a straw!
So when thinking about how to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a low-key mid-week cheap and cheerful way, I decided to lay out the picnic blanket on my bed and cover it with delicious meats, bread, crisps and dips. It was a surprise for the boyf and his face was a picture when he saw it. It was the most calm, serene and easy-going way to spend Valentine’s evening.
And then I got the most amazing present. The boyf knows how much I am loving Utility China at the moment and managed to track down a set of the blue Iris Woodsware. Wahoo! I’m so excited to use it in our new house (fingers crossed it goes through this week).
I also got a selection of my favourite chocolate and sweeties – Toffifee! After Eights, Astro Belts and a Choc love heart with chocolate nibs and sea salt….yum!
Oh, and my first ever Ralph Lauren….napkins. Mental. But he assures me that they go well with the vintage china.
It was a very lovely laid back evening filled with picnic yumminess, giggles and love. There were love hearts, chocolate, juice with a straw and vintage china. And of course lots of cuddles and marvelling at how I am a very lucky girl indeed.
I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day if you have a significant other in your life.
** Sorry, for the gazillion photos of me. The boyf is shy.
