A few weeks ago I was invited to the launch of the Vogue 100 exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. There I had a quick glimpse of what was to come in this stunning illustrative and photographic exhibition celebrating 100 years of the fashion magazine Vogue.
More specifically I had the chance to take a look at the fabulous products the National Portrait Gallery has on offer for the Vogue 100 exhibition. Because everyone loves a good souvenir, right?!
Vogue 100: A Century of Style is a showcase of the best illustrations and photography commissioned by British Vogue during its 100 years in publication. Since 1916 Vogue has been telling the story of influential style both in terms of fashion and visual arts. Looking through the prints on display you quickly grasp the story of art and it’s heavy influence on fashion (and perhaps vice versa) over the past century.
If you’re not able to make it down to London you don’t have to miss out. The National Portrait Gallery shop is stocking some stunning products including a beautiful book containing all the images from the Vogue 100 exhibition. I had a good flick through the book at the preview event and it’s stunning coffee table book. More details at their shop here.
I also have my eyes on these sunglasses by Vow (yes, pun totally intended!). I was trying on their sunglasses range at the event and they are adorably retro and super flattering. They are firmly on the wishlist at the moment.
If you fancy some Vogue cover art, you might like this collection from King &McGaw. I picked the January 1928 print and it has come in a beautiful frame which will go perfectly in my recently styled up bedroom (I can’t wait to share that room tour with you!). The rest of the Vogue covers collection can be found here.
British Vogue has been a pioneer and innovator of fashion style for a century. The magazine has the power to capture moments of popular culture along with artistic style. A flick through their cover images is a story of British popular culture over a century. It’s fascinating stuff.
I loved it!
Vogue 100: A Century of Style is open now and runs until 22 May 2016. The National Portrait Gallery recommend booking in advance. They also run a series of events alongside the exhibition which I think look fascinating. See the event list here.
