What To Wear In Ibiza

A couple of weeks ago Raj and I had a lovely holiday on the island of Ibiza in Spain. It was probably our first ever ‘proper’ holiday and we’ve been together 8 years! Usually our trips away are about travel, adventures or work. But this was a proper holiday of trying to just relax for a full 7 days. We booked a package holiday and made no further plans. All we knew was that we had our flights, hotel, and 2 meals a day taken care of. The only plan was to switch off.

For the most part it worked. But being the way that we are we got bored of sitting by the pool by the second day and went for an outing to Ibiza town. And by the third or fourth day we had hired a car so we could explore the island for a few days.

If anything this holiday proved us that we can’t quite do the pool thing for more than a day or two at at time! I guess now we know!

I will write up a post about the places we visited on the island of Ibiza soon. For now I just wanted to share some of my favourite outfits from the trip, because I did loads of shopping for this holiday and want to share my pretty clothes on the blog (I feel like I haven’t done that in ages). Plus, beforehand I had no idea what to wear in Ibiza. Now, I’m glad I’ve found some great outfits for a holiday on the white isle!

This dress is the black and red version of the blue one I wore on my luxury spa trip to The Scarlet in Cornwall a couple of months ago. I found the fit so flattering for my shape as it nips in at the waist. The top part is elasticated and the bottom part is A-lined.

The off-shoulder style along with the higher cut hemline at the front is just so pretty for an evening out. I found this version of the dress on sale on ASOS so I snapped it up.

Does anyone do that? Buy two of the same thing?

I dressed up this outfit with cute strappy black heels for dinner, and a round brown bag. I totally forgot to wear jewellery as I think this was on our first night in Ibiza and I had yet to unpack everything.

The heels are actually quite comfy as they’re not too high, but with enough lift to create a nice shape for this look.

Top // Shorts // Bag // Sandals – a market in Thailand (similar here) // Hat

OK, the angles on this outfit make the shorts look a bit weird, but I did cut off about an inch on these shorts and might even go in again with the scissors. They are supposed to be hotpants but I sized up to a 16 for a comfy, slouchy look for the holiday. I found I ended up wearing these shorts almost everyday, and have done back ever since (hello hot summer!).

For a day out in Ibiza town I wore a loose fit black top which has a cute low cut back, and I donned my trusty old sandals which I found at a market in Thailand a few years ago.

To keep the sun off my face I took my floppy hat, which was a fine buy, but honestly I’d like to have an even wider brimmed hat.

Finally, I am so happy I snapped up this lilac oversized tote bag in the sale. I’d had it in my saved list for ages and it’s a fab buy. I used it for my hand luggage and I can get so much in it. It’s currently my day-to-day summer bag as well.

I’m so happy purple is in this year.

For hanging out at swanky beach clubs I went for this all white bikini ensemble complete with loads of silver jewellery. I think the result is a rather luxe look (although I probably need to switch up my trusty Havianas for something a bit more glam).

Despite the luxe look, this outfit was quite a bargain. I think it’s the all-white theme that gives the luxe illusion. Top luxe tip from me!

I went for a nice high-waisted bikini bottom as it’s more comfortable for me to sit in when trawling the beach clubs. This one was the last in the sale from New Look, but I’ve linked to similar. I mixed it with a Dorina bikini top, my new favourite bikini brand (I am wearing a black bikini top below by them).

Also, another top tip, the white gel nails look lovely with a tan. When I first had them done it looked almost odd, but now I love them and will almost certainly get them re-done the same colour.

For more adventuring and sightseeing around the island of Ibiza, I went for my trusty denim shorts and a loose white crop top.

Since making a major shift in my mindset about my body (see: Why I Am No Longer Talking About My Body) I’ve been shopping for clothes that make me feel good. And well… this crop top felt good.

Underneath the shorts and crop top is my white bikini set as shown above.

Another day, another bikini… I actually took quite a few with me to Ibiza. This black number is from my new fave swimwear brand, Dorina. The bikini top is not my usual style because… hello tan lines?! But I thought it would be perfect for the party fun vibe of Ibiza, and you know what? I felt kinda sexy with the strappy detail.

The bottoms offer a little more coverage than the current trend for thong bikinis and they had a flattering dip design at the front.

Again, I donned my trusty white kimono (probably my fave holiday purchase this year) which has a nice weighty fabric drape to it but still breezy and cool. All of this paired with my favourite gold chevron bag.

Maxi Dress // Shoes // Necklace // Earrings

I have been wearing this black maxi dress loads this summer. It’s light, breezy and feels good to wear. It has an elasticated bust area and a-line cut bottom half. It’s almost empire-line which I find super flattering, and I love the square neck style.

I wore this for our wander around Playa d’en Bossa and Ibiza Town. I wore my blush block heeled mules, but have mostly worn these with my silver sequin sandals. The necklace was in the Accessorize sale so I can’t link it, but the earrings are part of a new range they have which has platinum plated jewellery. These hoops go perfectly with my wedding rings.

It would appear that I didn’t manage to get photos of all of my outfits whilst I was in Ibiza. I’m not much of a fashion blogger really! But these capture some of my fave outfits.

Overall the vibe is chilled, boho and a bit of luxe in terms of style. I loved layering necklaces over bikinis and a floaty kimono. I’d say pretty much anything goes in Ibiza though, so just go for it!
