The Wedding Flowers

Wedding Flowers

I was so lucky with my wedding flowers. My cousin’s boyfriend is a florist and upon asking for his advice on flowers he offered to help out at a friendly rate for me. Hoorah!

I wasn’t able to actually get down to London to chat with him in person about flowers so I was even more excited to see the flowers turned out beautifully as we pretty much organised all the floristry arrangements over Facebook.

As we were getting married in a barn in the countryside I wanted the floral vibe to be relatively relaxed without being too rustic. My wedding theme was roughly woodland fairy and as you can see by ALL the fairy lights that I filled the place with, I wanted it to have a kind of tasteful magical atmosphere.

For my bouquet I did lots of Pinterest research and sent over the inspiration. I wanted the muted mauve colour scheme but I also wanted to some peonies. I was so lucky with the July wedding as peonies were in season then (I think peonies have a notoriously short season).

I also wanted the mauve roses as the main feature wedding flower. I believe they are called Armando roses.

Building on this we came up with the stunning bouquets for myself, my three bridesmaids and four flower girls.

For the men we had simple buttonholes using Veronica as the main flower.

For the centrepieces we simple used large glass jars and a similar arrangement of flowers to reflect my bouquet.

We also had a large centrepiece arrangement made that was used for both ceremonies.

My final request from my florist was for loads of greenery! I wanted foliage to be climbing up the large wooden beams in the reception barn, and twisting around the mandap in the wedding barn.

Rustic Barn Wedding Foliage and Fairy Lights

The result was stunning. The foliage was combined with all the fairy lights I bought and created this fantastical feeling. The mandap looked lovely for both ceremonies, and it added that extra natural feeling to the already rather rustic barns.

All together the flowers and foliage added a warmth to the day and the decor. I have so much praise for Dean and the team at Isabella florists who did a wonderful job of creating such gorgeous arrangements.
